We're never going to live in a perfect world. Even if most of the major problems that we have magically resolved themselves overnight, there would still be all those smaller annoying things that would suddenly take precedent. Also, people being people, it's not out of the question that we would take it upon ourselves to start being horrible again.

This is a kind of depressing thought, but it also allows us to act with some pragmatism. It gives us all the more excuse to focus on the more humble pleasures in life, of which they are many. Of course, if you've got your head screwed on straight memes fall into this category. There are plenty of them out there, so it gives us ample opportunity to practice this very pragmatic kind of gratitude by scrolling through a few now and then. They certainly give us some entertainment, and that's the best we can ask for.
